Vincent Paint Gallery
Vincent
Vincent Prijadi Purwono is one of the many children who are absorbed in the world art painting in Indonesia. Starting from the fad of pouring his imagination into streaks between his school textbooks, Vincent is now diligent with paint and canvas.
Dealing with Vincent's work is actually a process of following imagination journey a child who is growing toward maturity.
Visual Diary
A quick reading of Vincent's work will lead to imagination world which is not monotonous. His works are similar visual diary, Vincent's daily life is close to cartoons, his interest in various forms of trains and their speed on the tracks, to the extent that his anxiety and anger are caused by the compulsory learning is the narrative behind Vincent's canvas.
In these visual notes, Vincent often gives surprises. He does not merely reproduce his favorite cartoon characters. He also did not want to banal present his anxiety by the obligation to study. Nor is it rigid to chase the embodiment and cars that are reckless with precision with their original existence. Whether you realize it or not, Vincent gives a narration.
Family
Painting titled My Family (2018) is one example. This painting does not place the parents and two siblings as the main figures, This work is actually dominated by diverse cartoon figures. From Luigi in the Mario Bros game to Freddy Fazzbear in the FNAF film, it appears to be crammed among the figures of Vincent's closest people standing in front of the plane sinking in an aquarium.
Strictly speaking, Vincent is talking about his daily life which is close to his family, also so familiar with imaginary characters typical of the child's world. Color choices that are predominantly bright can be interpreted as form of happiness Vincent in his relationship with these figures. It seems that the happy closeness Vincent felt without caring about the situation around his family. Even a plane crashed into an aquarium, he remains happy with his family.
Anger
Similar narratives did not appear in the painting titled “MY RIGHT“. In this painting a bespectacled figure holds a green blade in the right hand corner of the canvas. On the left side facing the figure, looked headless torso wearing a blue shirt that read Life As Art. The part that should be the head of the torso Vincent replaced with bright red lines.
This red-dominated painting looks sadistic, sadistic that Vincent felt when dealing with the obligation to study school material. The broken head then disappears in the body wrapped in clothes with art as its true life is a semiotic field for the appreciators of this work.. This painting is full of markers and omens anxiety and anger Vincent currently must submit to his obligations as a student. At the same time, Vincent seems to be affirming his interest in art.
Cars
From the series of works that Vincent created, the train seemed so dominating. Vincent never explained clearly why he was so fond of painting cars on canvas. It could be that the cars on the canvas started from his memory of the film Thomas and Friends who accompanied him missed childhood past. It could also be that the trains appeared by cause admiration a child against a large wheeled object that is able to go fast devouring the path of his journey.
Regardless of where the imagination of the car begins, in fact the trains on the canvas seemed Vincent realized with more seriousness than other paintings. Brush strokes and expressive color choices show Vincent has a deeper seriousness when realizing his imaginative trains.
